Investing in a greener tomorrow

We use knowledge to empower healthy and resilient communities, but what if we could do more?

Your gift will support a greener, healthier Washington when you give to the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program Endowment Fund.

Funding for the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program is essential to sustaining research-based education, volunteer training, and community outreach that strengthen environmental stewardship and public well-being. Investments in the program ensure access to science-backed gardening resources, support sustainable natural resource management, and promote resilient communities across Washington.

Funding priorities

The WSU Extension Master Gardener Program relies on gifts to support the educational mission of research-based, sustainable horticulture. Give to the Endowed Fund and be a part of extending knowledge. Your gift will:

  • Enable the teaching of cutting-edge horticulture and environmental stewardship to both new and experienced WSU Extension Master Gardeners for years to come.
  • Facilitate the creation of vital outreach tools like publications and fact sheets to support the educational mission of the Master Gardener Program.
  • Strengthen the program’s representation locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally.
  • Promote collaboration and partnerships with like-minded organizations to enhance the program’s impact.
  • Support meaningful research and the development of robust curricula to advance the program and address critical challenges like climate change.
  • Your contribution helps ensure the continued success and innovation of the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program.
  • Teach new and existing WSU Extension Master Gardeners cutting-edge horticulture and environmental stewardship in perpetuity.

Impacts of Philanthropy

  • Donations help the Extension Master Gardener Program impact food insecurity across the state by bringing communities together and by teaching them how to grow their own food. Through these efforts, Extension Master Gardeners are able to donate about 60,000 pounds of fresh produce to local food banks per year.
  • Donations impact pollinator health and habitat by teaching about the importance of pollinators to food security and plant biodiversity, by helping people create pollinator habitat, and by making sure residents know about the safe use of pesticides to support pollinator health.
  • Donations support collaborations and partnership with organizations that do similar work to create fire-resistant neighborhoods, waterwise landscapes, and support clean water initiatives.
  • Through your donations volunteers are taught to be first detectors of invasive species, how to report potential invasive species, and hone plant and insect diagnostics skills.
