Quick tips

  • Plant Native Species: Choose plants that are native to your region. They are well-adapted to the local environment and support local wildlife.
  • Diversify Your Plantings: Grow a variety of plants to create a more resilient garden ecosystem. This includes a mix of flowers, shrubs, and trees.
  • Avoid Invasive Species: Remove invasive plants that can outcompete native species and disrupt local ecosystems.
  • Create Habitats: Incorporate features like birdhouses, bat boxes, and preserve insect habitat to support various wildlife.
  • Use Organic Practices: Avoid chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Opt for organic methods to protect beneficial insects and soil health.
  • Save Seeds: Collect and save seeds from your plants to promote genetic diversity and ensure future plantings.
  • Provide Water Sources: Add birdbaths, small ponds, or other water features to attract and support wildlife.
